英语四六级选词填空题型特征及解题步骤(一)题型特征
该题型是大家在考场上比较头疼的一种题型，因为每做一个空格都要从 15个选项里选出一个，看似是“15选1”的工作，实际不然。每个空格前后都有单词的语法搭配，比如如果空格前出现一个“a”，而后面没有任何信息，那么空格就一定要填可数名词单数的形式，而且以辅音发音开始。所以这种题型的选项的词性就显得尤为重要。如果判断出每个空格所填单词的词性，就去相关词性的选项去找就可以了。而且选项的词性一般只有四种：名词、动词、形容词、副词。副词数量较少，一般为2-3个，其他三个词性的选项一般平均分配。当我们判断出选项的词性及形式时，我们就会缩小范围。有时可以达到“3选1”，“2选1”，甚至偶尔可能“1选1”的情况。
(二)做题步骤
根据上述分析，我们发现选项的判断很重要，建议做题步骤如下：
第一步：看选项
在看选项时，要注意标注选项的词性和词义。很多同学不认识单词的意思，但是要尽量把词性标出来。因为有的时候只靠词性及其形式就可以做题了，甚至是“蒙”题。
我们拿2006年12月的题目为例。15个选项分别为：A. estimate(v. 估计)、ngth(n.力)、berately(adv.故意地)、fy(v.通知)、 ical(adj.热带的)、omenon(n.现象)、le(adj.稳定的)、action(n. 吸引力)、letely(adv.完全地)、ructive(adj.形容词)、vation(n.饥饿)、 ging(v.带来)、ustion(n.消耗)、h(n.价值;adj.值得的)、ke(n./v. 打击)。
第二步：读文章，选答案
跟完形填空类似，建议以段为单位读文章，然后再选择。重点阅读首段首句，该句一般不设空格，是为了让考生了解本文主题。同时当读到空格时，根据空格前后词汇的语法搭配，以及上下文的.关系，判断空格填入单词的词性、形式及大意。如47题，空格前有“This strange”，后面有“happens”，该空格应该填入一个名词，而且是可数名词的单数形式，同时“This”这个单词出现表明前文已经出现了空格处词汇的原词或近义词。前一句话中有“change”这个核心名词。根据上述分析，空格处填F选项(phenomenon)比较合适。又如空格 56，“…but they are still not ____ sure…”，分析语法结构，空格处应该填入副词，而副词只有两个，分别是C和I，对于很多人来说，C选项可能不熟悉，但是I选项一定认识。带入I选项发现非常通顺，该题答案即为I选项。
